Drogo's Breadvan.
The serial number of the legendary "Breadvan" is 2819 GT.
That shows that it started life as a 250 GT SWB shortwheel-base berlinetta.
This car placed second in the 1961 Tour de France,
later it was sold to Count Giovanni Volpi's "Scuderia Serenissima"
and finished third in Monthlery 1000-Kilometers.
1961 was the year of the "palast uprising" at Ferrari
and also top engineer Giotto Bizzarini left Enzo.
With the help of Neri and Bonacini for the mechanical work
he remanufactured this 2819 for Volpi's Scuderia
to an almost 250 GTO.
The body work was done by Piero Drogo, using the aerodynamic theory
of Dr.Kamm at the rear. With this unique and unusual new body
the car came to be known as the "Breadvan"
(or "Camionette" in France) and took part in races -
1962 at Brands Hatch with Carlo Abate (pic 2) oder
at Le Mans (pic 4 - the viewer on the pic is a
little boy and the car is several inches lower than a GTO).
