Drogo's Dino 206 S.

The 206 S (SP) was the smaller sister of the Ferrari 4-litre 330 P3, 1965 designed as competition car only for races. The brand-new bodywork was made by Piero Drogo's Carrozzeria Sports Car and was very definitely a scaled-down version of that used by the P 3. On a number of cars a section of the roof over the driver's head was removed to give a targa-type top (picture 2).

It was the intention to build 50 of these cars to qualify them for homologation as 2-litre Group 4 sports cars. But a number of labour troubles ruined any chance to achieving this target. In the long run only 18 exemplars were made.

On the technical base of the 206 S Pininfarina created a prototype, which was presented at the Autoshow in Paris 1965. After some modifications this car became the Dino 206 GT with bodywork by Scaglietti, one year later followed by the successful Dino 246 GT.
